About This Spot
Arriving at Restoran CH Sdn. Bhd.中華食館有限公司 in the lively heart of Medan Makmur, Kuala Lumpur, you immediately sense a familiar, unpretentious warmth that invites you to slow down and savor the moment. This is not a place for rushing or pretense, but rather a welcoming neighborhood restaurant where laughter mingles with the soft clatter of dishes and the subtle murmur of conversation. The atmosphere feels comfortably familiar, like stepping into a long-frequented spot where the staff greet guests like old friends and families settle in for a shared meal.
The pace here is easygoing yet animated, a balance that reflects the essence of a traditional Chinese eatery where the food is crafted with care and generous spirit. The ambience hints at a timelessness, with a hint of busy weekend gatherings and the friendly hustle of attentive service weaving quietly in the background. It’s a place where plates are passed across tables, stories are shared, and the focus is on togetherness as much as taste.
The menu is a thoughtfully curated collection of familiar comforts and rich flavors that conjure the heart of Chinese home cooking without pretense. The kitchen offers dishes that strike a balance between classic favorites and subtle surprises — from the fragrant, delicate balance of steamed fresh fish infused with garlic to deeply satisfying, richly textured specialties like roasted crispy duck and buttery mantis prawn. Vegetables are given equal attention, appearing vibrant and well-seasoned, while the more indulgent options add a festive touch.
What makes dining here feel truly special is how these flavors weave into shared experience—the eager passing around of a claypot eggplant, the layered savoriness of mixed roast pork, or the satisfying snap of a perfectly cooked crispy duck. The restaurant’s unassuming charm lies not only in its dishes but in its ability to offer a space for connection, from family lunches that span generations to quiet dinners with friends. There’s a genuine sense that every meal is a moment to gather and appreciate.
Restoran CH’s friendly energy and cozy ambiance create an inviting backdrop for both everyday meals and cherished occasions. The surroundings may hum with the warmth of spirited chatter, but within that is a genuine feeling of community — a local place where familiar tastes and authentic hospitality welcome you, again and again.

I went to CH with my family for lunch last Sunday. This was my 2nd visit. I had taken my parents earlier in the year and we all enjoyed the food, so we wanted to introduce it to my sister and her 2 sons. We had deep fried carp, lemon chicken, sweet & sour pork, tauhu with broccoli, CH's signature brinjal with strips of pork, 4 beans with sambal and kailan. Except for the 4 beans with sambal which was not up to expectations, we all agreed that the rest of the dishes were delicious with the seasoning well balanced. We especially liked the fact that the dishes were not too salty. The waiters were attentive but they couldnt speak English. We communicated with them in Malay. One of them helped to take family photos with our handphone. The only downside was that the restaurant, although only about half full, was rather noisy. Nonetheless, as the food is good, we are probably going to pick CH for our Chinese New Year reunion lunch/dinner in February 2026. We look forward to trying some different dishes.

The eggplant with pork belly crisps is simply amazing. The other dishes are good, nothing too special about them. Ambiance is standard. Overall, a great place to have non-halal dinner and events.

Solid traditional Chinese restaurant. Food is very good. Huge serving too! Captain is very friendly. Just that like all Chinese restaurants, there are tables of SUPER noisy Chinese patrons.

Friendly and helpful staffs. The place is cozy. Reasonable pricing. Just the right taste that my parents like. The curry fish head is amazing! Love the Claypot eggplant too. updates: second visit, ordered lemon chicken, sweet and sour pork, claypot eggplant, claypot fish and Thai style tofu. The Thai style tofu is superb. Highly recommended.

Thursday 19 December 2024 - came here with 2 elder relatives, to entertain a long time friend from Guangzhou for a very short visit. The long time friend is a typical Cantonese, who cannot eat spicy food. Have to order dishes that are not spicy. Food is really good. "This is my best meal I had for these few days throughout my entire visit!"

We love the dishes. It's delicious and offers a good price on Wednesdays. It's a full house every Wednesday. With people waiting outside. The promo dishes are small but it's all very good and service very fast! Waiters and waitress very helpful.

Have visited this establishment several times, and it has been there for a number of years. The fish here is their speciality, live gutted on order. The taste and meat texture is just superb. However this also means price for fish is also on the higher end. A steamed patin about 1.3kg coat almost RM150. The other stuff on the menu is also nicely done and of reasonable price for a suburban Chinese restaurant.

The restaurant nestled in a quiet corner of the city, is a perfect blend of modern elegance and traditional Chinese aesthetics. The restaurant's interior is spacious and tastefully decorated with warm lighting. Tables are well-spaced, ensuring privacy and making conversation easy without having to raise your voice. This makes it an ideal spot for a relaxing family dinner or a quiet meal with friends. Parking is another major convenience during peak dinner hours, when it comes to the food, the menu is a testament to quality over quantity. The dishes are expertly prepared with fresh ingredients. Their highly recommended specialties are steam peppersalt fish, marinated pork ribs, and fried squid.
